The Hybrid Project

Welcome Turbo Dodge fans.  When I heard that the current DOHC head from Chrysler would fit on a 80's block, I was interested. It's time to move to the 21st century.  The 16 valve RT turbo 3 head is great but parts make the head expensive.  I own a 91 Spirit R/T but I wanted something I could put a lot of miles on and rebuild it later without costing and arm and a leg.

Obviously, this has been done before but I wanted to show how I did it. I am not building a race car, but wanted something capable of producing a little more power than the 8 valve. Well actually a lot more power than the 8 valve.

The engine was started in August and tuning is now underway. Not sure of the horsepower yet but the fuel mileage is fantastic. On a trip to alabama I obtained 42 MPG.  After this first trip I usually get around 36 MPG now. So this first one may not have been measured correctly.

I will break down the modifications into the following areas:
List of Specifications
Timing Belt
Block
-  modifications to the block for oil drain and feed
OIl supply Drain Lines
Oil -
Block Assembly - piston modifications,
block bottom end
Intake -   manufacturing the intake and intercooler - AC, PS and front engine mount mods
Brackets
Exhaust
