| Grupo 26 |

| Equipped with the I-15 "Chato", it was comprised of a total of nine squadrons which acted independently. Grupo 26 was part of 11� Escuadra de Caza, and it is believed to have been formed February of 1937 initially under the command of Ivan Kopets, alias "Jose". The first Spanish commander was Juan Jose (Closet) who took control of Grupo 26 in January of 1939. Previously the I-15 units were fitted in Grupo 12, formed in October of 1936 and which accepted all aircraft of Soviet origin (I-15, I-16, SB-2 and R-5) and was to the control of Arkadi Zlatotsvietov. This unit dissolved when Grupo 26 was created. |
