| The " Basque " Squadron was formed in November of 1936 with the arrival to Bilbao of fifteen Chatos. The squadron was comprised of different types of aircraft as well. Formed in three detachments: 17 of the planes were based in Lamiaco, the other two detachments of six airplanes each, settled respectively in the Albericia, near Santander, and in Colunga, municipality of Oviedo. Originally "Boris Maranchov" (Boris Aleksandrovich Turchansky) commanded but in February of the following year, the squadron had a Spanish commander, Felipe del Rio. In May I-15 of the Squadron " Lacalle " in incorporated with them, having been tranferred up from from the the central zone. This squadron disbands with the fall of the Northern Zone. |
