High School Novels

I believe that there were 25 Saved by the Bell high school novels by Beth Cruise.  The book jackets of the earliest editions of these books (or at least some)  were not numbered.  All of the books are now out of print.  There was also at least one Saved by the Bell novel published in hardcover, as part of the Especially for Girls Book Club: That Old Zack Magic, which  is #7 in the series, though the hardcover edition is not numbered.

These books are written about all your favorite characters from the TV show; however, they do not follow the storyline of the TV show.  Kelly gains another sister (Erin) and two of her three older brothers are named in the books.  New characters are added and many scenes take place outside of school and The Max.  The characters have a little more depth and more well-rounded lives.

It is my personal opinion that Beth Cruise did an excellent job with the characterizations in these books.  The characters are fairly true to the TV series, with two exceptions:  Zack, while still Zack, is a bit more of a philanderer in the books; and Screech is a bit more of a real person--though still recognizable as Screech.  I enjoyed the second change, but not the first!  :-)  I do wish the books had followed the storyline of the shows better, but these are fun books just the same.  If you've seen every episode 100 times and still want more, these books are worth searching for.

My personal favorite of all the Saved by the Bell novels is Fireside Manners.

In my collection, I still need #23 [I don't know the title], #24 Standing Room Only, and #25 The House That Zack Built.   I have several extras of some of the other books and would be willing to trade if anyone has any books that I need.  I would also be willing to buy any or all of these from anyone willing to sell them.  Thanks!

Book #18 is fairly rare, but, for whatever reason, books #19 and #21 seem to be the hardest to find and most rare, except for the last three.  I have seen #24 and #25 listed at Barnes & Noble.com, but I have never seen any copies of books #23, #24, or #25 anywhere.  If you have any of these last three, I would love to hear from you with more information about these books.

College Years Novels

As far as I know, there were only five College Years novels by Beth Cruise published, including one that is based on the wedding movie.  I liked these books even better than the high school books.  They were well-written, the characters had even more depth than on the show, but all characters seemed true to the characters on the show.  These also do not follow the storylines of The College Years show, but are well worth reading if you want more Saved by the Bell.  All of the College Years novels are a bit harder to find than most of the high school novels.
