| Technology Operations and Concepts Educational technology facilitators demonstrate an in-depth understanding of technology operations and concepts. Educational technology facilitators. TF-I.A. Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers). Candidates: 1. Assist teachers in the ongoing development of knowledge, skills, and understanding of technology systems, resources, and services that are aligned with district and state technology plans. 2. Provide assistance to teachers in identifying technology systems, resources, and services to meet specific learning needs. TF-I.B. Demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. Candidates: 1. Model appropriate strategies essential to continued growth and development of the understanding of technology operations and concepts. |

| REFLECTION Technology Facilitators need to be fully versed in the state and ISTE technology standards for the teachers and students in their districts. Through this knowledge they can maximize all the resources that are available to them. Technology Facilitators need to explore Professional Development activities that can give teachers the tools they need to use technology effectively in their classrooms. Over the past three years I have participated in a variety of Professional Development Workshops and can use this experience to help design workshops for teachers in the future. Technology Facilitators should offer a variety of Professional Development experiences due to the diverse learning styles of their teachers and the different levels of teacher competency with technology. Online learning is one possible avenue for presenting materials to teachers. Bush (2005) explores an application of online learning in the Mobile, Alabama School District. My online course, entitled Writing Winning Grants is an example of this genre. Technology Facilitators need to keep abreast with new advances in technology and explore the latest trends in learning. My graduate course work at New Jersey City University illustrates my commitment to life long learning. I also subscribe to Innovate, an on-ine technology education journal, and frequently read T.H.E. Journal and TECHlearning. These publications contain articles, blogs, grant information and product reviews for the most current research on technology advances for K-12 educators. I would encourage others in my district to be aware of these resources by posting links on my district wide technology website and also create a webliography of articles that I feel are particularly useful for administrators and teachers in my district.
