Will I ever find the man who will truly make me happy? Will I ever find the man that I can completely trust with my heart? Ive had some men act like they were attracted to me in the past, but in the end it was all a bet they had with their friends. I want to find someone that will make me laugh every day, and will challenge me every step of the way. Most of all, I want to find someone who will look at me as if I were the only person in the world.

Michaela shut her diary and sighed as she looked out her bedroom window. She turned her lamp off and headed for bed.  She had been having strange dreams recently about a guy, which is typical enough for a twenty-seven year old girl, but these werent like the dreams she heard her friends talk about. These dreams were so vivid, almost real. Lately shed been dreaming she was walking in the woods searching for something. Ordinarily the thought of being in the woods alone would frighten her, but somehow her dreams made her feel safe.  In her dream she would walk for days until she finally reached an opening where the sounds of someone chopping wood could be heard from miles around. She would find herself walking towards the sound and looking ahead she could see a figure, but every time she though she was getting closer the dream would end.

Michaela was the youngest in her family and she had recently graduated from medical school. Her father had offered her a position with him as a partner, but Michaela was determined to make it on her own.  So after taking some time off to do a little traveling and to explore her options, she responded to a couple of ads.  She was offered a position in New York, San Francisco and Colorado. Her parents tried to convince her to take the position in New York since it was the closest to Boston, where Michaela had grown up, but every time she thought about it she kept ending up deciding on Colorado.  She couldnt explain why, it was just something her heart was telling her to do.  She looked around her room, taking it all in.  The feeling of seeing her almost bare room was a little overwhelming. This had been her sanctuary for so long and now she was going to leave it behind.  She took one last look outside her window before she got back to her packing.

A couple of days later it was time for her to leave her old life behind and embark in the new chapter of her life. She stood at the doorway to her room and took one last look, a small smile spreading across her face as she remembered the first time she tried to operate on one of her dolls.

Michaela, are you ready? her dad called from downstairs.

Michaela took in a deep breath, shut the door and headed downstairs. When she reached the bottom she saw her dad looking up at her with a smile on his face.

Are you ready Dr. Quinn? he asked taking the bags from her hands.

As ready as Ill ever be.
