Michaela, are you sure youre going to be all right in that big house all by yourself? her mother asked.

Michaela hugged her mom and kissed her cheek. Please dont worry about me, I promise Ill be fine.

I cant help it. Youre my little girl. Her mother said with a tear in her eye.

Oh mother, there is nothing to worry about. The house I rented is just outside of town so Ill be close to my patients.

Michaela had rented a house just outside of Colorado Springs. It was a two-story wooden home with a barn on the side.  She hadnt personally seen the house, but when she heard the realtor describe it she just knew she had to live there.

Well, thats the last of it. Her dad said as he shut the trunk. Youre ready to go.

Michaela hugged her parents one last time and assured them that she was going to be fine before heading off to the airport.

When Michaela arrived in Colorado Springs she was overwhelmed with a feeling of excitement and nerves.  This was it, this was her turn to make her mark in the world and she was going to make sure not to disappoint her parents.  The first order of business was to take a tour of her new home.  She couldnt believe her eyes. The house was perfect.  The window in the master bedroom opened up to a beautiful view of the mountains. As she walked through the rest of the house she got a feeling of belonging there.  Once she was done exploring the inside of the house, she decided to go take a look at the barn.

Michaela opened the doors allowing the sunlight pour through. The barn was completely empty except for a couple of cobwebs that covered the wall.  She stood at the doorway and let her eyes wander around the inside. When her eyes reached a corner in the far back something caught her attention. There was a blanket in the corner that looked as if it was covering something.  She walked towards it and lifted the blanket up revealing a beautiful antique desk.  As she ran her fingers along it she decided the desk would look great in her office.  She covered the desk up again and went back inside to start unpacking.

A week passed by and Michaela had finally settled into her new home, and her new job in the hospital, and even her dreams seemed to have died down.  She had even managed to make a couple of great friends.

Michaela would you like to join us for lunch?

Michaela turned around and saw one of her new friends, Dawn heading toward her.

Id love to, just let me check on one more patient and Ill be right back.

That sounds good, well meet you in the lobby.

Michaelas patient was a little boy around five years old who had broken his arm while he was trying to climb a tree.  She walked in reading the chart in her hand.

Well, it looks like youre free to go, but Im afraid youre not going to be able to climb any more trees for a while. She looked at his mom and reassured her that he was going to be fine.

Im going to need you to bring him back in a month so that I can take his cast off.

Thank you very much Dr. Quinn.

Youre very welcome. She turned to the little boy and gave him a lollipop. Ill see you in a month Brian
