| Throughout the remainder of the day Anne, Dawn, Dorothy and Ashleigh tried to get information about the lunch date from Michaela but all Michaela would say was It was a very lovely lunch. When the end of Michaelas shift came she headed home to meet Sully and Hank at her house. The whole way home she kept thinking of Sully and the way hed handed her the flowers and kissed her cheek. Just thinking about it made her heart skip a beat and her smile get bigger.
Hank and Sully were sitting on the porch when Michaela arrived. Hank took one look at Michaela and whispered, She sure is beautiful isnt she? Sully didnt answer instead he just looked at Michaela. To him she was more than beautiful she was a vision of pure perfection. Hello. Michaela said as she reached the porch. Hank and Sully stood up and smiled as they responded to her. Would you like something to drink? she offered as she opened the door. Actually, I cant stay long. Hank said. Oh alright, well the desk is in the barn. Ill just go inside and stay out of your way. Hank and sully headed to the barn as Michaela headed inside the house. When they saw the desk they wondered how they were going to get it inside because it was so wide. Looks like were going to have to take the front door off so we can get it inside. Sully said studying the desk. I know what youre really trying to do. Hank said elbowing Sully on the side. What do you mean? Sully answered innocently. Sully, you and I both know youre attracted to her. That may be, but Im not ready for anything like that yet. When are you going to get past what happened between you and Abigail? I just dont know if I can love again. Sully said running his finger along the desk. Michaela was inside the house making sure the spot where she wanted the desk to go was clear. She wanted Sully to stay a little longer, but she knew he probably wouldnt stay since Hank wasnt going to. She was brought out of her daydream when she heard Sullys voice. Im sorry did you say something? I said were going to have to take the door down, but dont worry Ill put it back up. Oh thats fine, thank you. Sully took the door off the hinges and headed back to the barn so they could bring the desk in. A couple of minutes later Michaela could hear Sully tell Hank to watch his step and to angle the desk so they could get it inside. When the desk was inside and where Michaela wanted it, Hank excused himself and left. As he walked past Sully he whispered, Take a chance. After Hank left Sully got busy putting the door back in place and Michaela began to polish the desk. As she was going through the drawers she found an envelope. She sat down, pulled out the folded piece of paper that was in there and began to read it. Sully, How can I possibly tell you I love you when we're from two different worlds. My mind tells me it''s impossible, but my heart tells me you're the one for me. I've never felt this way before and it frightens me. It frightens me to think that I can love some one so muh and quite possibly not have it be reciprocated. I thought writing this letter would make it easier for me to tell you how I felt,. Perhaps some day I'll have the courage to tell you face to face. Michaela turned the envelope over to see if she could find out who sent it. The only thing that was written on the envelope was the name Sully, and from the look of the paper it had been in there for quite a while because the ink was almost faded. She put the letter back where she got it from and continued to clean off the desk. 7 |
