Visitors to today's capitol are greeted by these hardy pioneers, and reminded of the arduous trek the early settlers made to get to the Willamette Valley. |
| The home of one of Salem's early bankers, Asahel Bush, the 1877 Bush house is now the centerpiece of Salem's Bush Park and arts center. If you've been to this site before, I've reduced the size of this and other pictures to facilitate downloading. | |
| One has to get up fairly early to get any sunlight on the north face of this structure. But standing in the adjacent Wilson Park proves that it is truly worth the effort. | |

| Adjacent to the Bush house, as pictured above, Bush pasture Park includes an extensive rose garden which includes a small gazebo which proves to be very popular with visitors. | |
| Silver Falls State Park is just a short drive from Salem. An afternoon hike of only a few miles will take the visitor by, or behind, up to 10 waterfalls, ranging in size from 31 ft. Twin Falls to 178 ft. Double Falls. Pictured here is the park's most visited waterfall, 177 ft. South Falls. | |

The details seen in the woodwork of the Bush house testify to the craftsmanship that was put into this 1870s era home. Tours of the interior are a special treat for those who appreciate fine architecture. |
