Druidry today is one of the fastest growing Earth based spirituality's practiced. More and more people are just plain tired of the mundane realities of nine to five jobs that are lacking in the natural spirit of creation, and they are looking towards the "old" faiths and religions that are still in touch with Mother Earth. People are looking for faiths and religions that respect the natural harmonies and cycles of the seasons. Many people are also experimenting with different Pagan religions to see which one best aligns with the purposes and directions of their paths. Those of us in the Druid craft support each other in spiritual growth. Where in most Judeo-Christian organizations they prefer not to offer as much support to an individuals growth and spiritual needs, but to the growth of the congregation so people are looking elsewhere for wholeness.
People are also looking for a stronger sense of community like we had when our people belonged to a clan or village in ancient times. Within the clans of old native Pagan Europe, Druids were the spiritual leaders, healers, judges, astronomers, story tellers, musicians, and seers. There were rituals to assist each person with his/her cycles of growth through ceremonies for entering into puberty, childbirth, death, and seasonal celebrations following the cycles of the Mother Earth.
Our Druid Grove is called Hearth (or college) Of The White Dragon and consists of many members, local and worldwide. Our sacred space is Nemeton Awenyddion which has an actual physical location and stone ring. We are open to new members. We feel that people who are true seekers should be able to have the experience of attending a ritual and some ceremonies are permitted as well. This is why it is preferred that our Nemeton has a permanent location, so we can be open for new members.
We feel that people must be able to choose what spiritual path is right for them or where they feel their calling to, spend the time they need to investigate various paths. No one path is right for everyone! There are many Groves and Colleges out there and the practice is common among the Groves not to push our beliefs on anyone or to try and convert people who are lacking spiritual direction, people who are not grounded, or people who are vulnerable. We tend to let those who have some direction and interest seek us out.
