Check my blog, for my latest trip photos/reports/sightings - http://sahilonline.blogspot.com/

June 2005

With a wide variety of Habitats - from thick Deodar forests, Alpine meadows, flowing streams to cultivate fields Chakrata and surrounding areas play host to a wide variety of Insect-life.

(Click on the plates to enlarge them)

I have numbered all the Butterflies and put alphabets in case there is more than one photo for the same one (for eg. 03A and 03B). I have listed below the common and scientific names of these fellows following this same numbering order, also indicated the book from which the reference was made. (Please correct me if you think any of them are wrong.)

Most noticeable among the insects are the butterflies. Below are a few of these beauties.
