| Gaea was one of the three beings asked to take up dominion and help shape the realm upon its creation. The Lords had seen the majesty she had brought to other realms where she had resided and wished the same for Kryastal. Always one for a new challenge, Gaea accepted the offer. Gaea is often referred to as the "Earth Mother" or the "Life-Giver"--both of these titles are well-earned. She shaped the land from its initial formation into the world we now see today. All plants and animals were her creation. The most notable of which and her first creations are the elemental dragons. They were formed from flares of pure mana energy that had occasionally shot off the maelstroms that would eventually give birth to the five elemental gods. At that early time no normal creatures could exist in the still forming world, so many believe she gave life to those flares to ease her loneliness. However, the dragons would come to hold allegiance only to the god from whose maelstrom had given them birth. Apart from her creationary duties, Gaea has one more very important task. Upon his emergence, Gaea became mentor to the god of magic, Izneria. Izneria undertook the responsibility for controlling the mana flowing into the realm through Lord Garren Sparrowhawk's palace. She was chosen for this role because only she of the three high gods had been there, for Gaea had once been a consort of the lord. |
