Meet Our Morgans

Image

The legendary Flyhawk, pictured above, is a common ancestor to all our Morgans.  Meet Our Morgans features two stallions at stud and four homozygous black brood mares of traditional bloodlines valued for their conformation, disposition and classic type.  Homozygosity can be confirmed at birth by the University of California, Davis, using DNA testing.  Homozygous blacks always transmit their dominant black gene.  Homozygous blacks will never produce chestnut.  Our herd of twenty Morgans is producing Quality Homozygous Blacks.  Homozygous Blacks are very rare in our breed.  Only about 8 per cent of all Morgan horses are black.  That includes all those with lots of white and all those that are not homozygous. We are pleased and proud to offer the get of these fine Morgans for your consideration. Now accepting orders for our quality  foals. Homozygous black weanlings are priced at $5,000.  A 20 per cent discount is offered for purchase in utero. You are welcome to visit us at any time, please call ahead to be sure someone is available to show you the horses.  Thank you for your interest in our Morgan horses.

The Stallions

D-J Zoba

Zoey, our junior stallion, is a rare pure homozygous solid black.  Zoey will always transmit a dominant black gene to his offspring.  Zoey will never produce a chestnut foal...guaranteed.  Everyone who sees Zoey falls instantly in love with him.  He is beautiful and has the most gentle temperament.  Zoey always listens to you, and always tries to please you.  He is wonderful with children.  His first year at stud, Zoey's limited book of five outside mares was filled.  All mares bred to him conceived.  His first foals are everything the owners hoped for.  Zoey is available to your mare live cover or via fresh cooled semen transport.

TGF Blackjack Bogart

Boge is solid blue black.  Boge is rarely stabled but never bleaches out.  He never has that red cast to his coat often seen in blacks left out in the sun.  Bogart is a True Black.  Although, not homozygous black, Bogart has the genes of a True Black; which he passes along to his offspring.  The gene location for shades of black are different than the gene location of the basic coat color; so even though a horse is homozygous for black, he still might not have a blue black coat color.  Black is beautiful, but Bogart's trainability and temperament are the most desirable traits of this fine stallion.  Trained to harness as a mature stallion, Bogart took to his work like a duck to water and was going well in harness in just a few weeks time.  Not available to outside mares.

Ice Storm

Ice Storm is 50 percent percent Lippitt & 35 percent Jubilee King with 30 crosses to the famous trotter, Ethan Allen 50.  This classic high percentage stallion has ideal Morgan type as depicted by artist, Jeanne Mellin, on the AMHA Pride & Product Decal.  He passes his beauty, wide open trot and  people loving temperament to his foals.  A natural in harness, his big wide open trot takes your breath away.  Click here to read more about Ethan Allen 50.  Ice Storm stands to outside mares via live cover only.

The Mares

Glick's Black Satin

Satin, a rare homozygous black of Flyhawk/Ulendon breeding, has consistently produced exquisite fillies and colts by TGF Bogart.  Satin, a blue ribbon winner in carriage driving at the local level, has size, substance and an extremely gently nature, which she passes along to her foals.  These foals are now prized working and breeding horses for their owners from Florida to Oregon to New York.  Her foals usually sell sight unseen.

Glick's Linsley Storm

Smooth bodied blue black Linsley is a daughter of Bogart, a granddaughter of Ice Storm and a rare solid homozygous black..  Exhibiting excellent conformation and classic type, she is often the first choice of other Morgans breeders who visit our farm.  Producing homozygous solid blacks sired by our homozygous solid black stallion, Zoey.

Glick's Lady Shadowhawk

"I really like her shoulder", commented one visiting equine expert.  Lady, a stylish, tractable, rare homozygous solid black of high percentage Flyhawk breeding,  is linebred to Shadow Hawk..  When the illustrious Flyhawk died, Shadow Hawk was chosen by the Greenwalts as his replacement.  We are pleased to offer foals from this beautiful extremely well bred mare.

Glick's Blackeyed Susan
An exquisite solid homozygous black mare with classic proportions, gobs of mane and tail, beautiful square, correct, motion blessed with the temperament that made the Morgan horse famous is producing quality foals by our solid homozygous black Flyhawk/Kingston stallion, Zoey.  Click the link to see Susie and her 2004 foal Glick's Sir Prize.
