Hooked on

Stage - Television - Film

Stage

1960-1967 - 1982-1992 - 1994-....

1960-1967

Coming from a family of musicians and theatre-people in India, I found it quite natural gravitating onto the theatre and music scene. At a very early age, I was lucky that a director gave me the chance to play a lead role in some school productions ... with only two or three characters in the plays.

Major Productions

The Road to Damascus The Gift of the Magi Joan of Arc

Music also came naturally to me, so I took part in various pantomimes and radio plays involving singing, dancing and generally having fun!

1982-1992

Having been 'bitten' by the 'theatre-bug', I couldn't quite ignore the call of the stage, although I had tried to drop out between 1967 and 1981. When I got the chance again, through an ad stuck on my institute's notice board, I applied for a role and got into the theatre scene again.

Major Productions

Minor Productions

Musicals

Our Town

This English

The Pirates of Penzance

The Shadow Box

Smoke Signals

Not Quite Gilbert & Sullivan

All My Sons

Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

Fragments

Brahma's Hair

1994-...

I am still finding it quite good fun acting in serious and not-so-serious plays and pantomimes. Some of them are listed below.

Major Productions

Musical

The Flatulist

Snow-White and the Travelling Circus!
(A Pantomime)

Salim's Choice

The Midnight Train

Under Milk Wood

Senora Carrar's Rifles

Indian Television & Film Productions

1982

I was also lucky to get invited to play a major role in a 2-part serial for TV (which, needless to say, I jumped at) and a training film for a bank.

1983

The Mikado Trial By Jury

1996

I was recommended by my agent for a minor role in a Hollywood Film being shot in India and, after a three-part audition, got the role in Inferno. This movie was released world-wide in 1997.

I'm still looking ... and will continue to act or sing whenever I'm offered the chance ... because the stage is in my blood ... and I've given up trying to kick the habit !
