William

William Sadler was born April 13th in New York and raised on a 13 acre farm near Buffalo. The oldest cast member on "Roswell", he has had a glorious 30-year acting career.

In 1973, after two years of intensive dramatic arts training, Sadler took to the New York stage, where he appeared in almost 75 productions over a 12 year period, winning the Obie and Villager Awards. He starred in the original Broadway, Tony Award winning show "Biloxi Blues". For his portrayal of Drill Sergeant Toomey, Sadler won a Drama Desk Award nomination, and the Dramalogue and Actor's Equity Award.

His feature film credits include the roles of villian Colonel Steward in "Die Hard 2", the dim witted inmate Heywood in the critically acclaimed "The Shawshank Redemption", and the Grim Reaper in "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey". He appeared in "Disturbing Behavior". along side the young Brendan Fehr. Additional film credits include "Trespass", "Rocket Man", "The Hot Spot", "Hard to Kill" and "Rush", "The Green Mile" starring Tom Hanks, and the HBO movie "Witness Protection" starring Forest Whittaker and Tom Sizemore.

He has appeared in such hit TV series as "Roseanne", "Newhart", "Murphy Brown", "St Elsewhere", "The Outer Limits", and the premiere episode of "Tales from the Crypt", for which he garnered a CableACE nomination. He also had a recurring role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".

Sadler is a beloved part of the "Roswell Family" and has actively supported "Roswell" and it's fans at various parties and Fan Forum functions. On "Roswell" William plays "Sherrif (now Ex.) Valenti", father to "Kyle Valenti". Season one featured "Valenti" as a chilling and relentless man who will stop at nothing to discover the secret "Max", "Isabel " and "Michael" are hiding. However, after events that leave his son's life hanging in the balance, he realizes the truth and becomes an invaluable friend and ally to the group of teenagers. Sadler is a wonderful part of the cast and has recently brought some of his directing expertise to the show.
