Majandra Delfino -
Maria DeLuca
Majandra
Delfino was born February 20, 1981 in Caracas, Venezuela - her father's home
country. Her name was originally Maria Alejandra, however her sister Marieh
had trouble pronouncing it and so the name evolved to Majandra (ma-han-dra).
At
age three she and her family moved to Miami. Delfino showed astounding taltent
at a young age in the arts, singing, ballet dancing and acting. At 10 she
danced with The Miami Ballet and one year later she joined a singing group
called "China Doll". Since then she has left the group and moved on
to bigger and better things.
Majandra's
parents desided to let their daughter make a choice. They gave her a six-month
time period in which to seriously pursue a career in entertainment or to
concentrate on her academic life. Majandra succeeded in securing her first
movie role in "Zeus and Roxanne." She later starred in "The
Tony Danza Show." Her real leap up the fame ladder came when she
won the role on the hit show "Roswell". (debut on WB, currently on
UPN.)
Majandra
plays the character "Maria Deluca", best friend to "Liz
Parker" (played by real-life friend, Shiri Appleby). Maria is firey young
woman with a passion for life. Her wit and sarcasm make her almost the perfect
mate for resident alien, Michael Guerin, however the two often butt heads.
Maria is often a surprise. She shows her friends and loved ones compassion,
but fear and anxiety lead her down different roads. Majandra plays this
character with energy, charisma and an unmistakable pout. The development of
her love-hate relationship with "Michael" (Fehr) is wonderful to
watch.
Majandras
film credits include:"Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the
13th", "The Secret Lives of Girls." and "The
Learning Curve". She also had a role in the Oscar nominated motion
picture, "Traffic".
Majandra
currently lives in LA. After showcasing a lot of her musical talent on
"Roswell" she has released her first CD "The Sicks",
described on Amazon as "A six-track stunner
