I will start with something "light". Is it just me, or do all employees at fast food restaurants have to learn how to place an order of french fries in the take-out bag so that the container of fries turns upside-down and all of the fries are loose in the bag?? |

Email is a wonderful medium of communication. But, since when is it okay to rip out a person's feelings and stomp on them? Just because it is a written medium, it's okay to be abusive, and insultive? If it isn't something that would be said face-to-face, then it shouldn't written in an email either. |

Is there any way possible (besides homicide) to stop William Shatner from making any more of those obnoxious commercials for Priceline.com? All of his existing Priceline footage should be destroyed as well. |

Well, it is August 2000, and it comes around to the time for a presidential (and general) election in the U.S. That means we get to endure several months of seemingly-endless campaigning and propaganda from the various political candidates. My personal view is that one of the most useless professions ever devised by mankind is "politician", and that "politician" is, for the most part, synonymous with "self-serving, egomanical liar". In most of the derogatory jokes about lawyers that circulate, "politician" could be easily substituted for "lawyer". Yes, my viewpoint of the whole system is quite sarcastic and cynical, but it is pretty rare for something to happen within the world of politics that inspires me to think otherwise.
In my opinion, one of the most detrimental aspects of politics is having a two-party (predominantly) system. There is FAR too much finger-pointing, blaming, and name-calling between the two parties. Democrats believe that every ill of society is caused by actions of the Republicans, and vice versa. At what point does the need for some sensible solutions outweigh the need for a scapegoat? |

I was just scanning through CNN.com (my home page so that I can get a decent overview of the national news, etc) and noticed that Chipper Jones (third baseman for the Atlanta Braves) is about to sign a 6 year contract worth 90 million dollars. Is it just me or is that completely ridiculous? I will agree that he is an athlete and professional baseball (as much as any other profressional sport) is a very money-oriented "institution". But at what point do the salaries of professional sports "stars" get to be MAJORLY excessive? Not to mention that some of these "stars" are hardly worth the money they are paid. Mike Tyson? Dennis Rodman? John Rocker? PUH-LEEZE!!!!
Of course, the same thing can be said of some film "stars" and/or music "stars". It pretty much goes to show that this is the age of "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!". What compounds the "problem" is that there are many VERY valuable folks in very low-key professions (teachers, social workers, etc) that have to bite, scratch, and kick to get anything remotely resembling a raise to match the inflation of the cost-of-living. I find that discrepancy to be a very sad statement for how our society seems to be "working" at present. |

If we "pay" for network television by having to watch commercials, how come we have to pay for cable channels (such as A&E, Discovery, etc) AND have to endure commercials on them? |

Reading the National Enquirer and/or watching "The Jerry Springer Show" is like masturbation - everyone does it, but no one likes to admit to it. |
