This happy chappy is ABYST prince among demons. He's a very hefty mini from Reaper minis, who kindly provided him for the Visions in Colour painting exhibition. I'll put the link for this soon. The himself is fabulous (although possibly cursed - everyone that painted him had something go wrong. Me I knocked him off the table and broke off his sword and bent hics a bit.)
This fellow on the left is aptly named "The Crimson Knight" unfortunately he's died in the game already and been reincarnated as a gnome. The excellant mini is by Reaper minis.
It's a real shame GW doesn't make minis like this anymore. Their old range had some of the most imaginative and plain weird designs, I just think this guy is pretty cool - in a bony kind of way.
The knight is from the 3 stage character range from Ral Partha, he's the fighter. This was actually one of the first minis I ever got back in 1988. Recently I've gone back and rebased some of my older minis so expect more soon.
A couple of lovely ladies with Big wepons. The one on the left is a vampire from Reaper minis, I have a fealing she's now OOP. The blonde on the right is the Blade maiden leader for the Sons of ronos in Chronopia. I like the way her hair turned out.
A trio of Dwarves. The on the left is Flint Fireforge from the Ral Partha Dragonlance box set now OOP. The middle and right dwarves are GW Dwarf Greatbeards.
This wizard is actually the second wargame mini I ever painted. It's from the Ral Partha 3 stage character sets. It was the basic cleric. I painted this with enamels and as you can see it needs a lot more contrast to make the cloak really pop out. I also learnt it doesn't hurt to stick with one or two symbols when doing a pattern. On this guy I didn't want to repeat any of the symbols so in the end I was really running out of ideas. I added the little dragon familiar a few later, from the Ral Partha familiars set.
This is the Banshee from the Ral Partha Ravenloft boxed set. I was really happy with the way misty green blends from the base into her skin, as well as the glow from between her fingers. Beleive it or not but this Angel is actually a Devil. She's from the Ral Partha AD&D range she's called an Erinyes. Unfortunately with the end of the Ral Partha AD&D licence she's now OOP.
The young wizard with the magic sword is an old Julie Guthrie - Grenadier Fantasy Personality. I'm particularly proud of how the blue clothing turned out since it was one of the first times I'd mixed inks into the paint.
This is "Gabriel Darkblood" by Reaper miniatures. I loved the mini's pose the minute I saw it and grabbed it up. Later when I decided to use it as my player character for AD&D I decided to beeth up the sword to a two-hander so I replaced it with a plastic sword from the GW Chaos Marine Weapon sprue. I then put the hilt of a Space Marine knife at the top of the scabbard since there was no way in hell that big thing would fit. I also made his hands a little bigger to acomodate the size of the new sword grip. This mini was also quite a challenge to paint since it was the first time I really pulled off a convincing dark red. I was much too used to blending up to highlights whereas this is very dark red blended into black.
Here we have "Boozy" the dwarf from old GW he's way out of production now. I painted him back in my early enamel days.
This big boy was an old Julie Guthrie - Grenadier personality monster. It's an Ogre bodyguard for an Orc Leader.
"You know of course this means war!" This is a Ral Partha personality - Doom Bunny. The carrot on the shield sold me straight away. I think they actually produced bunny troops for a while but I never saw them done here in Oz.
This grim faced chap is a High Elf Lord, he's from the older range of GW elves Pre-Warhammer 2nd Ed. I was particurlarly happy about the checkered pants when I did them.
This lovely is an old Ral Patha Personality figure, I'm not sure if the name is right but I always remember her as the Dark Queen.
This is the Chaos Scorceror from the old HeroQuest game by Milton Bradley. Beleive it or not that's a cheap plastic mini. I always liked him since he looks kinda like Skelator.
This little imp is from the Kev Adams - Heartbreaker range. I tend to use him as a mascot for my Chaos Marines.
