FANTASY MINIATURES

This is "Turok" mark 3. It's a Heartbreaker - Chaz Elliot - Elf spearman. I was looking for a mini that had a pose that I could make a huge sword beleivable. The Zanzba sword [a type of Japanese sword used to off cavalry much like a halbard] was carved from Evergreen plastic sheet and rod. The rune on the blade was engraved with my trusty Dremel. I also added the dagger at his shoulder and the pair on his back as well as the sword from the old Grenadier weapon pack.

If you are wondering about the odd looking armor, in the game I acquired a suit of magic platemail which has a thunder storm trapped inside. The sword on the back has a snakeskin scabbard covering.

These are "Turok" mark 1 and 2. No 1 was a proper Earthdawn mini, which I think was sculpted by Chaz Elliot. I liked the I gauntlet look, it reminded me of FFVII. Mark 2 on the right was for when I got the character a bit more beefed up but I never used it since I realised there was no way thet guy would pass for an Elf. The mini is a Firstborn Greatswordsman from Chronopia, I loved everything about this mini when I saw him, very dynamic muscular great pose and a funky sword. If you look carefully the ribbon on his chest has the Japanese "Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan". This is one of my first efforts at this deep blue since I have a good palette of blues now. I decide I liked it so much that I'd make it the Raiders of the Lost Kaer colour.

This is "Kyus the Dark Spider" our groups evil barstard. He's a nethermancer who seems to be the student of the campigns main bad guy. The mini is again a Heartbreaker Chaz Elliot mini. It really suited the character since he has his grimaur tatooed on his arms. As you can see I've again used the same blue scheme. I added the skulls on the clothes to give that grim look.

This is "Melonial" Turok's girlfriend. She's a theif that on one occasion was with the enemy and later stole most of our gear and nearly killed Braxton the troll. Anyway Turok likes her, If your familiar with the Lupin series ie: Castle of Cagliostro you'll get the Wolf and Fujico relationship. Anyway the mini is from Shadowforge a local Sydney company.

This is the afformentioned "Braxton" the troll warrior. He died in the last game trying to fight a dragonette. The mini is a proper Earthdawn mini. My friend Joe originally painted the mini and said "Fix it" so I left his colours alone and basically cleaned it all up and redid the skin. I was really happy with how the crystal shoulder pad turned out. I used space wolf grey as a base with moody blue wash to deepen it and then highlited up to white edges. Only regret with this mini is I think he belongs on a bigger base.

A couple of T'Skrang minis from Earthdawn. These are probably the most accurate to illustration miniatures in the range. I really loved the personality that they had. The left one is now a member of our party and is known as "Chicago Ke Ke Ke" the wizard. So far he's proved a vaguely useful coward. Anyway back to the minis as you can see I've done a light underside - coloured back style in various colours with contrasting spots. For something differant I tried some blossoms on Chicago's pants, and for real contrast I did his vest in orange red. On the swordmaster I've tried some tatoos to make him more interesting.

This was the swordmaster "Prath al Orion" he was Horror marked in one game and Kyus "helped him" into another life. I went pretty extreme with the polar colour schem and the spots I think it gives an interesting cross between a tiger and a frog in the look. For the vest I based it one of the characters from Rounan Kenshin it has the Kanji for "Bad" on his back. If your wondering about the big sword it's made by Oz Made Miniatures.

Heres a bunch of windlings used in our game. The one on the far left is from Castle Falkenstein, the other 3 are from the Ral Partha Fairy ring, an odd mini from the AD&D line that I wish I bought another copy of.

This is a Ral Partha Armoured Troll by Bob Olley. I love the way he makes fabric look, very gritty. The armour is beautifully detailed too.

This is Frangari the human trobadour of the Raiders. The mini is from Reaper minsi. Note the whip on his hip, mind you it's hard to see at this angle.

Old Ral Partha Anti Paladin. Makes the ultimate bad guy for almost any occasion.

This has to be one of the coolest skeleton minis ever. He's an arachno assasin from Reaper.

Girl with partial plate armour from RAFM

First character I've ever known to have 1 in charisma. Damn funy. His name is Forge and he's a dwarven weaponsmith. Played by the excellant Bib

Meet Amroth Van Storme, human Elementalist on a mission from Thera. This is probably one of my most over the top minis, especially for fantasy. I got the idea to try and recreate Seather from Final Fantasy 8, so I had a look through my box of Delaques and found the leader had the funkiest pose and the closest to what I wanted. So I first cut off the left hand with the bolter, then I removed the pistol from the right hand. I then remodelled the grip in the right hand an and added the sword from another mini. I then went through the GW zombie sprue and found an open left hand, perfect for casting a fireball. Next up was to remodel the cuff on the left hand with greenstuff as well as give him hair. I also removed all the snake patterns from his collar. After that painting him was kind of easy. I'm very happy with his hand it came out really well and surprised everyone when they saw him. Side note - since I sacnned him I noticed that the hilt of his sword broke off so I've remodelled it with green stuff with the head of a tiger as the pomel.

Lastly we have an old GW archer we use as "Theldor True Shot" archer, I plan on painting up a Waywatcher as a new mini. The girl is has won me some awards and is the perfect damsal in distress. She's from the RP Ravenloft range.
