Bruce's Story Was Spot Provoking Hey Bruce!! Can I call you Bruce? I read your
article in Rollin' mag most every month. Being on the Magpie list I get the notice to
take a gander. One of these day's I'm thinking I would like to try some of
that LD Madness. 1st stop, SS1K. I was thinking of riding down to Daytona
3/9 and coming back 3/10 for a warm up.
(It's about 650 miles one way. Kinda sick I think, I don't want to go to
Daytona for Bike week, I just want to go for the miles.) The thing is the
most I've ever ridden in one day is 450-500 miles. Last year coming back
from Hiawassee GA, I was on the bike for 10 hours (we didn't make good
time that day) and I was ready to get off. Do you have any pointers for
doing a SS1K? Should I do several 'build up' rides
or should I just get a buddy and do it? My bike is a '99 Triumph
Tiger, effective hwy range is about 200-225 per tank
(6.4 gal). The only thing that really sucks about it is the seat. Just curious Peter Clark PS- should you ever get up to NC, I can show you some REAL good BBQ places!!!
Bruce, Thanks for another good write. The day after the Florida Riters took me through the Momo Sho, I went for a real ride -- more than 40 miles. Late in the afternoon, I challenged myself by riding past a couple of my "spots". One in particular was an early evening occurrence. So, the timing was even with me to make memories more vivid. They are tough places where my mind wants to think about the past and fear wants to take hold. So, I have to concentrate harder to keep my mind on riding. I committed to ride that route frequently this summer. I won't remove the spot. But, I can learn to ride through it. Billy Street
Howdy Bruce, Just a quick note to tell you I really enjoyed your "Spots"
article in Rollin' this month. Very thoughtful, and thought provoking. Ride safe, Lowell Mattox - St. Louis - '78 SR500
This Reader is Keeping Betty Straight Lauranne, Love your story.. amazed that
you found the roots of the name for the province and city *S* Only one
small error, Regina is the capital not Saskatoon.. Otherwise keep up the
good work. Steve Eberhardt Thanks for pointing out that error. That's what I get for depending on type size on a map! I did some researching on the names because I loved the way they sounded so much!
The Letter That Started it All Please remove me from your mailing list. I have heard that you don't support veterans. I heard this thru some people here in Alabama. I'm a 26 year veteran. A 3 time Nam vet. I've had cousins who died in 2 wars fighting for this country. And will not associate myself with anyone who fails to see the purpose to support the veterans of this country. If this is wrong. And you do support veterans and their efforts. Then I apologize. Billy Burns U.S.N. Retired I have sent mail to Billy setting the record straight. For the rest of you, Please read this months editorial... Larry
Opening Day at T.W.O. Motorcycle Resort Nice job, and nice plug for opening day at T.W.O. I've got a feeling the crowd is going to be a little bigger this year... Selden Deemer, Atlanta, Georgia
Billy Scolds Us... Again Larry, I enjoyed Skert's writing. 'Course, I always enjoy Skert. Who wouldn't enjoy being around that smile surrounded by infectious energy and optimism. Butt, I thought it interesting that you put a Widder ad on the page of a Gerbing sponsored rider. Shame. Billy Street We changed that one within a few days of the issue going live. Oops... Steve
