The scores are deceiving because both games ended in double point rounds...they were actually very close until the end. In the first game The Raiders held the lead through types of oil, aircraft carriers, batman villains and terriers. The Rats turned the game around with a 1 point lead in the next round, Aretha Franklin songs and continued to broaden their lead through the next 3 cats for a 37 - 19 victory. The lead in the second game see-sawed back and forth with a 1 or 2 point margin. After 7 close rounds the Rats pulled ahead 28 - 21 in Australian recording artists and then finished it off big in a double point, Sandra Bullock films category, winning 36 - 21. (commentary) --- The rats came scurrying out of the sewer to meet with the raiders, claim victory, and do the rat dance all the way back home. The raiders fought the good fight for sure. They started out game 1 with 5 answers to our 3 in the kinds of oils cat. They also had a 3 point sweep in aircraft carrier names. The Rats came back in force with 10 out of 10 answers in parts of a guitar. WE also had the edge in the equality round of Aretha Franklin songs. Game 2 started us out with 7 out of 10 answers in buttons on a vcr. The raiders had had enough and tied out points in the armor types round. But we sensed some raw competition and regrouped in the next category, getting 9 out of 10 in animals with only 3 letters (was RAT there... Noooo!). We wound up game 2 with a final category, which we swept, of Sandra Bullock films. Only one thing to say now....NEXT? --- (reporter) Lauren |

| 7 | (teams) LOLers & Wonders (Game1) 30-29 LOLers (cha-ching) (Game2) 33-27 LOLers (MVP) Kitten808 (roll_call) Musicluvr, flamepillar, Kitten808, Midwatch, dagny (commentary) --- Thankfully I was able to make these day games today and they were as fun as ever! Our game against the Wonders looked pretty dire for us at first Wonders went up 3-2 on people whose initials are JC, and went WAY up on Pennsylvania cities, 9-4! Then they went even further up 16-7 on Condiments! At that point I made a comment, "It would have helped us a lot if y'all had done this to Fourplay!" (with us closing in on 4th place and all LOL) well needless to say I felt pretty bad for saying it, especially when we started sweeping rounds thereafter. They might have won if I hadn't said that, but who knows. LOLers made a comeback and closed in at 13-17 on Driving songs, and went ahead 20-19 on things associated with Pools. The Wonders made a run on Barbarian Tribes and took back the lead at 23-22, but the next round was a Double Pointer and we were lucky enough to be the ones with an even number of points, which enabled us to squeak by with our CRItical knowledge of CRI words to win it 30-29. In the second game, Wonders started off good on Beach Boys songs going up 5-4, but we were able to take a lead of 10-8 on army ranks, from which we never looked back. We went up 15-11 on Merit Badge names. Wonders almost put us overboard in Goldie Hawn films, coming close at 16-18, but we armed our chopsticks and gobbled up the Chinese Food cat to increase our lead to 23-17. Sadie even caved in to the temptation and feasted with us, scoring one of our points in that round! Tom Cruise was the next cat it looked like risky business but the LOLers had all the right moves and shot to game point at 29-21! The last cat, US States, which to me is one of the most fun and competitive cats there is, was where we found our State of Grace at 33-27. And if you wonder why I keep using that expression "State of Grace", it's a song by Seal, a GREAT song I might add! I only got one MVP vote and it was for me, but my vote went to Kitten so I'm giving it to her. Good game Wonders! And I'm sorry again about what I said. (roll_call) libra, athena, sadie, hoov (commentary) --- Well it started off looking bright for the wonders as a poor showing for both teams had us ahead playerwise, but flamepillar and midwatch must have been screaming at the top of their lungs cause help came for them. It was a fun game with the few of us playing, and very heartbreaking with such scores. From the first cat to the last both teams were neck and neck and today the LOL's came out on top. --- (reporter) libby |
