KATHRYN'S PAGE

This is Kathryn's Page.
Kathryn is the youngest of the kids and
perhaps our most challenged one.
Kathryn was diagnosed with Type 1
Diabetes at the age of 3. She has done fairly well at
taking her daily shots and at checking
her own sugar levels. She will ask for the
poker as we call it and poke her finger
with it. She'll then take
the meter and test her own sugar levels.
She has had quite a fight
with diabetes since we first found out that she had it.
But this little girl does *not* let the diabetes
bring her down. Yes she gets quite
cranky, irritable and sometimes she's a plain ol' bear;
but she is still quite the active little child.
She knows when her sugars are too low for
the comfort level. She knows when the sugars are way too
high and lets us know that she
might need a little more insulin.
She will be going to school in the new coming year
so this will be our next challenge. For now
this little girl will keep on going and I don't forsee
her allowing the diabetes to bring her down
too much in the future.

Kathryn loves to play with her dolls, animals and toys.
When we go on our little walks
to pick up her brother and sister from school,
Kathryn has to take her doll for a walk in the little stroller.
She also loves to play games (video, outdoor, board), talk to her grandparents
on the phone, go to nana and papa's to stay
for the weekend and so much more.

Kathryn is also quite the artist. She will
sit and draw all day if she could.
If you give this girl a pair of scissors, she not
only will cut something out
she'll find a way to create something more
out of it like any artist would.
We plan on encouraging Kathryn's artistic
talents as she grows because I believe
that it is definitely one of the many
gifts that God gave to her.
