CADD Procedures Manual

SECTION 4.0

BLOCKS AND WRITE-BLOCKS

To maintain consistency with the way blocks are created and organized, the following must be exercised:

  • All blocks are to be created on layer "0"

  • The color of blocks shall be "BYLAYER" (same color as layer "0")

  • To enable the option of inserting blocks at a desired scale, blocks are to be drawn at 1=1. (See Section 2.0 Paperspace and Modelspace). Most blocks will be in Modelspace, hence draw at 1 acad unit = 1 foot.

  • Geographical blocks (survey data, topography, right-of-way lines, boundaries, etc.) shall have a set insertion point of "0,0,0"

  • All write-blocks shall be included in a directory called "WBLOCK" and submitted on electronic storage media with the drawing package, along with "PCP/ PC2" files (See Section 7.0 for proper "PCP/PC2" setup) and "README.TXT" files. (See Section 8.0, Accompanying Diskette).

  • To reduce the size of drawings when submitted to the City of Simi Valley, purge the drawings before submittal.

  • A list of blocks with a description of what it was used for in each drawing shall be submitted with the drawing package. This list must be documented inside of the "README.TXT" file. (See Section 8.0).
