SECTION 2.0
PAPERSPACE AND MODELSPACE
SECTION 2.1
PROCEDURES
In order to keep uniformity, all base drawings must be in model space and the descriptive annotation must be in paperspace. The use of AutoCAD's paperspace and model space must be used for the setting up each sheet in a drawing package.
- Modelspace - draw at 1 acad unit = 1 foot.
-
- Paperspace - draw at 1 acad unit = 1 inch.
All callouts, notes, dimensions, street names, entities, hatching, or any other line work, must be drawn in modelspace. All matchline text, titles, or any other descriptive sheet text must be drawn in paperspace.
Stationing of centerlines or any other construction lines must be drawn in modelspace. This includes all stationing text and station tick marks.
All station callouts for tangent points, BC (begin curve), BCR (begin curb return), EC (end curve), ECR (end curb return), etc., must be drawn in modelspace.
To retain all layer settings in each viewport after exiting a drawing, the "VISRETAIN" system variable shall be set to "1".
To maintain varied linetype scales in their respective viewports, the "PSLTSCALE" system variable is to be set to "0".
SECTION 2.2
VIEWPORTS
- Viewports are to be placed on the "V" layer (See Section 3.5.1 & 3.5.2).
-
- Viewports may overlap, but no viewports shall be placed directly within any other viewport.
-
- Any viewport that is turned off shall be noted in the "Readme.txt" file (See Section 8.0).
SECTION 2.3
CONVERSION FACTORS
- All viewports are to be scaled up to the proper plotting scale. The following are examples of scale factors for viewports:
-
| Preferred Scale | = | Scale Factor |
| 1 = 10' | = | 1/10xp or 0.100xp |
| 1 = 20' | = | 1/20xp or 0.050xp |
| 1 = 30' | = | 1/30xp or 0.033xp |
| 1 = 40' | = | 1/40xp or 0.025xp |
| 1 = 50' | = | 1/50xp or 0.020xp |
| 1/4" = 1' | = | 1/48xp |
| 3/8" = 1' | = | 1/32xp |
| 1/2" = 1' | = | 1/24xp |
| 3/4" = 1' | = | 1/16xp |
| 1" = 1' | = | 1/12xp |
- definition of "xp" = times paperspace.
