There exists a reason that many people have hope, and nearly an equal amount of reasons why some don't. I believe that hope is an indescribable feeling that has nothing to do with reality. Faith, hope, and belief are highly intertwined, but i'm not sure how. do you?

I wonder about faith, and why some people have it, and some don't. Some people believe they do, but they don't. This faith I write of is faith in God.

Happy New Year? Rather presumptuous. Every year, people say "Happy New Year!" and every year it is the same old rubbish. How many of you are still sticking to your resolutions? I am not a preacher, nor a pastor, a father, a reverend, a bishop, or any other title men give themselves. I am, however, observant, and methodically analytical. How many pray at night with clasped hands and eyes shut tight, yet sit idle the next day and watch the fight. Prayer alone is not enough. We must take action to bring about the change which we wish to see in the world, and pray for the strength to be men and women of character, of honor. That word, honor, has lost nearly all meaning these days, but that is a topic for another discussion altogether. Maybe this can be a new year, but only if we let it?
21 December 2008- Happy Birth Daze
Happy birthday, everyone tells me... An imperative statement? (You), have a happy birthday? Is this an order? Are you demanding that I be happy? Or do you wish that i was as much as i do, because i seriously doubt it. I am happy to be alive on my birthday and have my loved ones healthy. The rest of the jazz can play it's sweet song, 'cause I barley hear it. My gift is opened by my mind after my head hits the pillow, and it looks oddly enough like a better me tomorrow.

What does it mean to take stock? Buy shares? No. To take stock means to have faith. Perhaps it is a common phrase that has become uncommon in our generation, but that does not change the fact that you should only take stock in things you know and trust. God warned explicitly about counting your chickens before they hatch. Let's stop it, shall we?

Is there any wilderness left on earth? The answer may surprise you. Wikipedia defines wilderness as: Wilderness is generally defined as a natural environment on Earth that has not been modified by human activity. However, when the particular idea that I am currently writing about struck me, I thought of wilderness to mean something more. Reading on in the wiki article about wilderness, it dives into the origins of the word, and its original meaning: The word's etymology is from the Old English wildeornes, which in turn derives from wildeor meaning wild beast (wild + deor = beast, deer) (The Collins English Dictionary, 2000). From this point of view, it is the wildness of a place that makes it a wilderness. The mere presence or activity of people does not disqualify an area from being "wilderness." Walk down a dark alley in a big city on a Friday night and tell me you can't feel the lions circling in the darkness, or hear the wretched wings of the flesheaters beating above. The entire earth is a wilderness, and one must always take special precautions in that kind of place...

Anyone that knows anything about Russia is not surprised that it has yet again invaded a neighboring country. However, many people would be surprised to learn that the people of Russia are descendants of the tribe of Magog, a tribe from the times of the prophet Ezekiel, and that Russia's actions (to include their alliance with Iran) were predicted in a passage from the book of Ezekiel. Read more about the war of Gog and Magog here. Go ahead and dismiss these notions as the crazy rantings of a paranoid religious fanatic. I did. All the cool kids are doing it.

Who has known the disparity of humankind? Who has truly sunken to the depths of lowness that the scientists which measure the depth of the Maria Trench work with? There is but one. He knew of disparity, he was denied by any who claimed to follow him, save a few random sad faces in the crowd. He was beaten and tortured for our sins, and left alone to die by his friends. But for some reason, we see it fit to complain daily of our own problems, as if they compare in magnitude and depth to the level of suffering that was committed by the One who took on all of our sins. Quit your whining, life really aint that hard, 'till they start nailing a crown of thorns into your skull.
16 March 2008 - Rose'z Farewell
This past year has had it's ups and downs. Of course, the downs are anything and everything that has to do with Korea. And of all the ups, there is no doubt in my mind that the choking incident tops the list. Not because Wanser almost choked to death, obviously, but because the event led to a whole new chapter of my life. Wanser had a near death experience which sparked something great. I believe Wanser and I both were flowing with the gospel but needed this spark to ignite it into the explosion that was destined. We authenticated the Smoking Section, spread the Word of Christ to those in need, and have made a ripple in a glass like pool that will one day soon become a Tsunami of Faith. Looking back at the last 12 months, I would not like to know where I would be without the experiences we have had. Good, Bad, Happy, Sad, Scary, Fun, Exciting, or seemingly useless, I would not trade them for anything. And as I leave all my boys, my friends, my brothers, I wish you all the best of luck, keep in touch, and "Keep Ya Head Up." Rose
26 November 2007 - Christ'z Mass
Everywhere I go in the PX (which is like the military's walmart), I see decorations and advertisements reminding us that Christ's Mass is near. Big business and aggressive advertisements have destroyed the true meaning of the holiday. Kids today worship Santa Clause and want to please him just to get good gifts on that fateful morning when we received the greatest gift of all. Parents use it as a threat to make their children behave and feel obligated to present gifts because it is Christ's Mass, yet do not do it in the spirit of the holiday, which is the spirit of giving. Whether or not it was the actual day of the year that Jesus Christ was born is of little matter, the point is to recognize that on a certain day in the distant past, God gave us the most precious gift ever given to anyone, He gave the world it's Savior. Let us not forget the meaning of this coming "holiday," which is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Never have I been able to fathom why on God's green earth have men in history had the desire to conquer the world, or to achieve world domination. Napoleon, Hitler, Alexander, the list goes on. Perhaps they wish to achieve immortality through their exploits, as if we really care after they are dead that they had some cockamamie plan or another to take over all of the lands of God's earth. What they have failed to realize, which is painfully obvious to me, is twofold. First of all, do you really want that many people on Social Security? And secondly, this is God's earth, we are just livin' on it. Personally, I will wait on Zion.

I love to watch the seasons change. Growing up in the tropical climate of Florida, I really didn't get to experience it in full effect, but here in South Korea, it is a drastic change that is ever so gradual. It's not as if you just wake up one day, and the entire world is different, it changes a little at a time until it is too late, and a new season is upon us. However, since my two tours here in Korea, I have noticed a distinct day, both times, where I walked outside and I could feel the very air itself had a new feeling to it. A certain crisp coolness that contrasted starkly with the blazing sun. It feels good.

This is a copy of an email I sent to both of my senators and to fox news and CNN. Greetings and Salutations, Mr. Senator: My name is Stephen M. Wanser, and I am currently serving my country in South Korea. After my recent deployment to Iraq, I have been becoming increasingly concerned with how my fellow comrades are conducting their selves while affiliated with our government. I have seen to many of my friends get blown to hell to let this continue over here in Korea. These soldiers here are making a mockery of all that our country stands for. I am sure you are familiar with the scandal that erupted involving the clubs here in South Korea and our soldiers involvement with prostitution and human trafficking, made public by the fox news report. Well I am ashamed to inform you that it is still occurring, and even more rampant than ever before. Soldiers are abusing these women as sex slaves literally in the streets, the clubs make it easier than ever to "buy" a woman, and the military has only token efforts in place to check this. In reality, most of the high ranking people in a position to make a change are the most frequent abusers of the system. No one wants to do anything about it because they are getting laid. After curfew for the American soldiers, third country nationals (people from Nepal and Iran and such) come into the clubs and it is a wholesale sex house, a brothel, yet the military police see it happening and do nothing about it as they should, which is report it, and have the club placed off limits. Please, Mr. Senator, we need your help. I have taken the liberty of forwarding this email to CNN and Fox News. Something must be done about this injustice. I did not risk my life daily in Iraq as a Machine Gunner on Convoy patrols and watch my fellow soldiers die and get horribly mangled and disfigured so we could go on living in a terrible world. Apparently, 12-21-2012 is going to be a date of some significance (other than being my birthday). Imagine that you were standing in front of a wall. On this wall, you look to your left, and to your right, and all you see is the color black painted on the wall. Perhaps you would assume that the color of the wall is black, and there is no message contained within. Now, imagine that you walked a mile away, and saw the entire wall, discovering that it was actually a white wall, and the black portion you saw when you were at the wall was really the bottom of a T and REPENT was actually painted on the wall. You would have never known had you not stepped back and looked at the bigger picture. Perspectivez can reveal many things that you never even considered that you never knew.

All those hypocrites up in the office care about is their public ratings and their steak dinner party. They claim to care because it is good for their public image. Somebody might want to go let them know to watch their backs, because they can run but they can't hide. Inebriation happens. Many would say that I am "under the influence" of alcohol. Are we not all under the influence of whatever chemicals that happen to be mixing in our bodies at any given time to bring about whatever current thought is occurring in your brain in this exact moment in time (assuming we as mere humans and but mortals ACTUALLY have a firm grasp on what exactly time is, which we don't) So sure, yeah, I am under the influence. I cannot believe that there is actually people out there in this world that are so sick minded to believe that they are able to exalt themselves above their fellow man through their own acts alone. They often call this "High" society. Well I got news for them. Why does the military call a training exercize a field "problem?" The problem is, we are out there to begin with! You morons....Well, instead of wasting all this time and energy and money on practicing to kill someone else, I will be using this time almost as a camping trip, to become one with nature, sample some local flora, bring a good book with (or two or three, just make sure they are non fiction) and lament on what is really going on here? After all, whats the problem?

Why is it that a Rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet? Many people have said and written many things through the days, and the days continue to continue. However, why is it that some words choose to stick with us over time? The answer is, of course, because some words are more meaningful than others. I don't think that anyone will be remembering the script for last night's Law and Order 2,000 years after it's conception. But that is not the point...A piece of shit dressed up in a tuxedo and ready for a dinner party still smells like a piece of shit. 2 June 2007 - Cooking Skillz
Why is there such a thing as an oven timer? Because not everyone can remember when they put the pot roast on, of course. However, there is a predetermined amount of time, based on the conditions such as the weight and relative temperature of the chunk of meat to be cooked, the amount of moisture and only God knows what else that goes into the conditioning and seasoning of meats to bring forth a taste deemed pleasurable by our minds which interprets the electronic impulses that we receive from nerve endings in our toungs commonly known as "taste buds." Still with me? It gets worse.

I've been told before that I have a problem with authority. This is wrong. It is authority that has the problem. The problem with authority is that sometimes the wrong people get a too much of it, and misuse it. Thus, everyone has a problem with authority to some degree. Did the Jews, during the time of Hitler's reign, have a problem with authority? Or did authority, at that time, have a problem, and the Jews were right. I think we know the answer to this one.
