The most important homework assigment that has been given unto all of us by our heavenly Teacher is to read and study the word of the Bible, to seek it for understanding and guidance. The problem where many Christians go wrong is when they read the Bible to try to find what they want to get out of it. They use it for verification, or for reference, rather than study it and try to take its true meaning, not just use it for a way to justify your own self righteous actions. This was not the intent when it was written, and deep down inside, we all know this. I'm not trying to say I myself am not guilty of this to a degree as well, but life isn't about being perfect. It's a learning process, pefection in the making. It is true that not one of us will ever be free from sin, we will never be perfect, or anything even close, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't give it our honest, best shot. This means we have to study the word, and then try our best to live by it. The Bible isn't just a good idea, its the law! What are you waiting for??? Go pick one up! Read it! Read it with an open mind, and try to be receptive. Do not go in it to find what you want, go in to get what He has to offer, which is knowledge and understanding. So why bother, if we never will reach that pinnacle of perfection, you ask? Wellsir, the whole point is not to be perfect, but to walk along our heavenly Father's path, trying our best not to stumble, stray, or fall. When we do, our Redeemer Jesus Christ is there to pick us back up, keep us on track, and share our journey with us. It is through this way that you will lead a good life, if you do your honest best to live by the word of the gospel. Then, other people who may or may not be Christians will see you, conducting yourself righteously about your buisness (or as righteously as possible at any given moment) and wonder what are you doing right. Shine, and others will see your light. Then set them aflame as well. That is our charge.
