Purpose & Mission:

The PURPOSE of the PVR organization is to promote the interest of and active participation in amateur radio, emergency communications and public service.

Our MISSION is to recruit, train, and maintain a crew of Amateur Radio Operators who are ready to furnish communication services in a time of need.

September 20, 2007

We will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the EOC on the lower floor of the Richland County Courthouse. We have much on our plate, so we will be discussing our activities and events.

Monthly Meetings, 2007

Our regular monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. If there is a change, you will be notified. Our meeting schedule for the rest of 2007 looks like this:

August 10-11, 2007

Our PVR "Walk With Grace" team will be participating in the 4th annual event sponsored by GRACE, Inc. The event will take place in Krouskop Park in Richland Center, WI. Please support your team. ADDENDUM: Our team did very well in raising money for cancer patients and research. Our total was more than $3,000.00

August 11, 2007

The Circus City Hamfest will be held in Baraboo. Chris, KC9CMD, will be manning the PVR table. If you have things you would like to sell, contact Chris.

August 17-18, 2007

The 2nd Brat Feed will be held in the parking lot of Ed's Family Foods. Setup begins at 9:00 a.m. Serving begins at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until 2:00 p.m. Please support our Club.

August 25, 2007

PVR will be serving as radio communications during the 3rd annual "Family Fun Run and Walk" sponsored by the UW-Richland Symons Recreation Complex. The run will begin and end at the UW-Richland Campus. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be awared.

The Symons event will require 11 radio operators stationed at strategic places along the route. Bob, W9MZ will serve as Net Control at the start/finish line, and Dick, W9JR will man one of the sites. That means that 9 more ham operators will be needed. If you're interested, contact either Bob or Dick.

Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. The Run/Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Symons Rec Complex. Details of the event will be discussed on the Sunday evening NET and also at the August meeting. Please volunteer to help.

Please report to Net Control by 8:30 a.m. in order for you to get to your site prior to the start of the event.

October 6, 2007

PVR will be serving as assistant parade officials at the 8th annual "Canyon of Lights" torchlight parade. This parade is fast becoming one of the most popular Fall Festival parades in SW Wisconsin. All units are illuminated with lights of many kinds. Parade begins at 7:00 p.m.

October 20-21, 2007

PVR will be participating in JOTA (Jamboree On The Air). Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops from the surrounding area will work with participating hams to make radio contacts with other Scouts from the U.S. and the World

October 27, 2007

The State ARES/RACES annual convention will be held on this date. PVR will send representatives to the Conference.

The annual conference is October 27-28, 2007, in Neenah, WI. Please join us for the ninth annual ARES/RACES Conference! This year's conference is open to everyone interested in ARES/RACES, including EMS, NWS, and other private disaster relief personnel.

Pizza will be served for lunch Saturday. Refreshments, less coffee, will be provided both days. Cost is $10.00, which includes lunch and refreshments for Saturday. Sunday's registration fee will be $5.00. Registration for both days will be $15.00.

You may attend Saturday or Sunday or both. Payment will be collected at the conference and pre-registration is required. Registration MUST be received by October 20, 2007. A registration should be completed for each attendee, including non-ARES/RACES personnel. We hope to see you there!
