Part I [8 pages]

This part is devoted to describe the meaningful life and the specialty of the great poet and some historical facts about his success in winning the Nobel Prize. This part has three sections.


Section 1: In this section, the life and achievements of Rabindranath Tagore are narrated. [A photograph of the Poet is attached in here]

Section 2: In this section, the short history of Gitanjali [English] and the story behind winning the Nobel Prize have been described with evidences.

Section 3: In this section, the Tagore's musical styles have been studied with the help of the expert opinions in the field.


Part II [144 pages]  

This part forms the main body of the book where forty-two poems, selected from English Gitanjali, with their respective original Bengali song equivalents and alphanumeric notations are included. This part has forty-two sections.

Part III [10 pages]

This part consists all the back matters, such as, - pronunciation key, notes on notations, notations of Thaals [rhythm patterns] as appendices and the indices of English poems and Bengali song equivalents. There are three appendices and two indices as well as a detailed bibliography.

Appendix A: This appendix describes a pronunciation key, which is different from regular phonetics to ensure accurate Bengali accent with the help of the supplementary audio-tapes/compact disks.

Appendix B: This appendix explains how to use this book and interprets the alphanumeric notations.

Appendix C: This appendix presents the notations of ten Thaals [rhythm patterns], added to the songs of this book, such as Jhampak, Daadra, Theora, Kaharwa, Roopakrha, Jhanpthaal, Ekthaal, Jath, Chouthaal and Threethaal.

Bibliography: This gives a list of reference materials with the names of writer/editor, publisher and date of the first publications.

Index I: The first alphabetic index shows the page numbers of the forty-two poems marked with their respective numbers in Gitanjali (English).

Index II: This alphabetic index of the forty-two original Bengali Songs (in Roman script) shows their page numbers as well as names of makers of original notations.
