| BIO Name: Celeste Date of Adoption: October 17, 2004 Variety: Hairless Sex: Female Once again I found myself standing at a pet store staring in at rats. I should know better, but it seems my heart always wins out. In this particular store, they have a cage of hairless. Boys and girls. Generation after generation. Pregnant moms are thrown in the back long enough to birth and nurse their babies. As soon as their babies are old enough, they are all added back in with the rest of the rats. The babies get pregnant and so does mommy again. No breaks, constant breeding. I decided I was going to stop the cycle, even if it was just with one rat. Three days after Celeste came home she had a litter of 11 wonderful babies. 7 are girls. In just a few weeks they would have been impregnanted by their brothers and uncles, causing the vicious cycle to continue. I know I can not save them all, but I can spare what I can. These little girls will not be used for breeding machines. Their mama now knows the comforts of being able to be a mother without having to worry about her babies being snatched up. As soon as they are ready, these babies will be eligible for their forever homes. As soon as eligible, the boys will be seperated and the mama will continue to reside with her daughters.
