Mickey Mouse. . . er Rat.
BIO
Mickey was just yet another in a large bin at a local reptile store. My daughter and I went in to go look around and get some knowledge on Bearded Dragons. (I had been debating heavily getting one). She came across the bin and asked about it. I told her that they were going to be snake food and to leave them be. Next thing I know my daughter (5 1/2) comes up to me with that really sad face. "Mommy, we need to save them". I tried to explain to them that we could not possibly save them all. She amazed me. "Well, can't we save at least one?" I open the bin and let her look in. I know the guy at the store, so wasn't too concerned about his reaction. She told me that she wanted "THAT ONE". One of two hoodeds in a bin full of PEWs. I picked up his tail and said "He's a boy. Okay". I held him a bit wandering around the store and then purchased him and a small plastic cricket cage to store him in for the ride. (I couldn't bear to have him put in one of those little boxes!) We spent the rest of the day buying him a home, food, water bottle and bedding. He even rode through Wal-Mart hidden in my purse. (This seems to be the best way to pocket train I am finding!) As he has gotten a little older, I have noticed his dark hood is starting to get some different color hairs mixed in. I can't wait to see what happens next. |
