Mckay/Zelenka

Ah, my first love the the Atlantis kind. The more I watch of it, however, the less I like McKay. So, there's a good possibility that I won't actual update this page often.

Science Geeks by Kylie Lee
Summary: McKay fights his inappropriately romantic feelings for a coworker.
Pairing: McKay/Zelenka
Rating: NC-17
ikyrian's notes: Ah, I love this pairing. When I started out in the SGA fandom, I was initially reading Sheppard/McKay fics, which is really and unfortunately popular. Me, being perverse, decided that it was entirely too popular, I quickly branched out to other McKay pairings as I tend to go for the geeks. Which landed me into the whole McKay/Zelenka pool. Where I'll happily swim for as long as I can. And this fic, for me, reminds me of how much I like Zelenka. He's an interesting character that I think some people occasionally marginalize because he's a scientist and doesn't speak English like a native. But for me, he's just adorable, and amazing, and adorable, and a genius, and did I say adorable? (I live for geeks.) Ah, he's an interesting character, because behind his broken English lies a truly wonderful mind. And when paired with McKay, whether in work or in play, those two are unstoppable. Well, at least in fanon. Heh. Kylie Lee does a good job in executing this fic, and it's always a treat to read about McKay being driven up the wall. And the sex is really hot.

Dangerous Idiosyncrasy by Crackpress
Summary: An odd habit causes a problem.
Pairing: McKay/Zelenka
Rating: NC-17
ikyrian's notes: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Ah, this is not only sweet'n'sexy, but hilarious as well. Zelenka is just pure evil here and I love it. (Some of my friends might say that evil is just my way, heheh.) And Beckett is just perfect. His whole "doctorly" thing and the havoc it wrecked upon McKay was beautiful. Poor McKay, he just can't win. *loves*

Lockup by qwirky
Summary: Radek and Rodney are stuck...again.
Pairing: McKay/Zelenka (pre-slash?)
Rating: PG
ikyrian's notes: Awwww. This is nice. qwirky has their characterization down nicely, I thought. McKay's stubbornness, Zelenka's weariness, and even Weir's sighs were all good. Though the ending was a little ambiguous, I still smiled when I got to the end. I'm totally developing a thing for "feel-good/fluffy" fics which is nice, because there's only so much angst a person can take before they want to hurt themselves instead of reading more.

Speak No Evil by wisdomeagle
Summary: Without the power of speech, how will McKay get by?
Pairing: McKay/Zelenka
Rating: PG-13?
ikyrian's notes: I liked the premise of this fic. I don't know if it's a common one (having never encountered it myself), but it was very interesting. I also like the fact that it's from Zelenka's POV, when done well, he has such a witty internal commentary. Especially since McKay is such a vocal person, always talking, whining, thinking out loud, etc. However, despite the rising frustration/irritation, Zelenka sticks with him, and helps him in anyway that he can. The dynamic between these two, and the building up of the sexual tension, was written very well here, I thought.

Sex Like Math by Jane St Clair
Summary: He pretends it's not all about brains, but really it is.
Pairing: McKay/Zelenka
Rating: Hard R
ikyrian's notes: I like Jane St Clair's writing, and I was initially drawn to her by her wonderful "Imaging the X-Men" (which, everyone should go check out, even if they don't like the X-Men, just for the concept alone). She has not disappointed me (as if she really cares about disappointing me *laughs*) here. Sometimes, an author gets so into the abstract when they describe things and they go so far *out there* that a regular reader like me can't always understand it, and goes away, not having enjoyed the story, but frustrated that they couldn't understand most of it. I think Jane St Clair toes that line sometimes, but she does it really well, and I ultimately enjoy much of what I read from her. And in this one, she has a good sense of McKay's character (and it's getting hard to keep writing McKay when I'm thinking "Rodney"), of what he likes and how he is. How that not even sex can really distract his brain away from the problems at hand. How that Zelenka is the same way and why that makes them perfect for each other. I could go on squeeing about this story, but really, you should just go read it.

Absurdity Theory by Julad
Summary: John held up the recorder again, and pressed play. "Quack quack quack," it said, in Rodney's voice. "Quack honk quack quack honk honk!"
Pairing: McKay/Zelenka
Rating: Hard R
ikyrian's notes: OH-hohohohohohohoho! This is brilliant. Radek and Rodney being snarky and geniuses and only being able to understand each other and oh, it's perfect. Absolutely wonderful.
