Osho

- - - An invitation to discover yourself - - - -

Osho is the person who has most influenced my life, I could even say saved my life, helping to lift me from the edge of suicide to become a guy who loves living, with all its ups and downs. Osho to me was an invitation to journey onto the intertwining paths of meditation and love. Osho is not someone to study, to agree with or to follow. He is an invitation to discover yourself, an invitation to dive down layer beyond layer into your deepest being. Sitting on the bottom of the ocean you can look up and watch a raging storm on the surface above and not be tossed around by it. To find out more see Friends of Osho to find an Osho meditation center near you, and visit the Osho Commune in Poona, India. If you are in Quebec, Canada, in the summer, visit l'Auberge du Lac Carré.

Adventures of Swami X in Poona

During my five visits to the Osho Commune in Poona India, I often found myself writing funny songs and stories. Swami X emerged from these writings as the most unenlightened sannyasin in Poona. Swami X could never remember his sannyas name exactly, except that it was something like Xanda Banana, which he shortened to Swami X. Swami X was so close to Osho in Rajneeshpuram that he was the only sannyasin who had his foot run over by Osho's Rolls Royce during one of his daily drive-by's. Swami X was also close to Buddha in a past life; he once carried Buddha on his back across a stream. Swami X was a mule in that life and some therapists claim that he hasn't changed since. Swami X has such an obsession with Osho quotes that the commune guards have had to intervene. He has been told that it is ok to hit people verbally with Osho quotes, but to stop hitting people over the head with Osho's books when he gets into an argument. Following are some of Swami X's experiences in Poona. Those with the tape recorder icon represent songs you can listen to.

Mistake Rose Blues

Massage Man

A Condom a Day (Keeps the Doctor Away)

Poor Me / Pauvre de moi

Working Meditation

Ping Pong Therapy

Songs of Satori

One of my favorite group processes developed by Osho is the "Satori" group, a longer version of the "Awareness Intensive : Who is in?" group, itself an adaptation of the "Enlightenment Intensive" developed by Charles Berner. The last two times I participated in this meditative process I wrote a song shortly after each experience. In the goup process you respond to a Zen Koan (an answerless question) while communicating verbally with a partner. A Koan might be a question such as "Who am I?", or "What is truth?". The songs do not describe the experience of the group, but they reflect something of the state I was in after the groups.

Lost in the Dark
"What should I do with my life?"

Tell Me What is Truth
"Truth is sitting on a chair, Truth is neither here nor there"
