US Commercial Bullpup Designs |
This site is dedicated to the study and design of modern bullpup rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Definition: A bullpup rifle has the magazine and receiver placed to the rear of the weapon, behind the pistol grip and trigger assembly. This compact design allows a full length rifle barrel with a short overall weapon length. Civilian bullpup designs tend to adapt existing firearms into a bullpup design. Very few dedicated bullpup rifle designs have been sold in the United States. For the most part, modern bullpup rifles use advanced plastics and other lightweigh materials in their design. Some type of optical sight is usually standard issue with most bullpup rifles. Pictured at left is an example of a recent civilian bullpup design - a standard SKS rifle receiver and barrel is installed in an aftermarket AUG style bullpup stock. |
