COURSE REQUIREMENTS
ART 136: Color and Design
ART 137: Advanced Design
The objectives of this entry level class course (no pre-requisites courses
are required) are to experience creative processes (See Blind Art Teacher) , learn color theory
and apply some working principles of design
.
Course Outline:
(not necessarily in the following order)
Black and White (point, line,
shape) - 6 weeks
Color Theory - 4 weeks
Color Projects - 4 weeks
Other Projects - 2 weeks
No textbook is required, but approximately $150
worth of design materials will be needed during the course. Ten hours
per week, including class time, is an average of time needed to complete
assignments. One individual feild trip to a
museum, galleries or somewhere else or a written report may be required
Attendance will be taken and 5 absences may result in a lowered grade.
A passing grade on an examination of color nomenclature is required for
a final grade of C or higher. With the above considerations, the final
grade is based entirely on a semester's end conference with a portfolio
representing all classwork, homework and extra work. Interim work and individual
designs will be graded generally only upon the student's
request
