Prescott People - Lee McKnight

Lee McKnight 01 Lee McKnight was known known in Prescott as a property owner, shoe store owner, historian, philosopher, writer and mayor. He was an ever-present citizen, supporter and participant in Prescott life for a large part of this century. His legacy includes the fountain at the foot of Edward Street, dedicated to Prescott and inscribed with his The St. Lawrence River: A Reflective Soliloquy. (Lee McKnight Collection)
lee02.jpg (5708 bytes) Not without a sense of humour, Lee compiled a list of Prescott nicknames. I recognize some of the names, but not many. The  nicknames are likely the 1930s to the 1960s. (Lee McKnight Collection)
lee03.jpg (8670 bytes) During the 1930s and 1940s, he worked as assistant to Dr. Mahlon William Locke. Dr. Locke,  from Williamsburg, was known world-wide as a healer. Visitors included Prime Minister MacKenzie King, Louis B. Mayer, Jean Harlow and Eleanor Roosevelt. (Lee McKnight Collection)
