The Four Mysteries of the Entire Rosary
(All four mysteries comprise the entire Holy Rosary. Each mystery has five decades of Hail Mary prayers)

Here the word 'mystery' refers to a truth of the faith, not to something incomprehensible, as in the line, "It's a mystery to me!"  It is the meditation on the mysteries -- on the grace of God -- that gives the Rosary its power and its staying power. If it is mechanically recited, vocally or silently, the the essence of the Rosary is missed.

Thus, the Rosary is a meditative prayer. Each decade has a series of reflections on instances in the lives of  Mary and Jesus. Ponder over them as you say each decade. Connect them to situations in your life. Pray for people in associated circumstances.  Say the Rosary meaningfully. Think about what you are saying in each line, every time you say each line!

When one refers to the Rosary, it is usually understood to mean five decades, or one fourth of the entire Rosary. While many pray five decades of the Rosary each day, there is a considerable number who pray the twenty decades daily.

Those who pray the Rosary regularly would do well to be enrolled in the Confraternity
to gain extra spiritual benefits for each Rosary they pray.
