The First
Luminous Mystery
>> Flash Movie:
God is
Light (open in a new window with music to pray by)
"Moving
on from the infancy and the hidden life in Nazareth to the public
life of Jesus, our contemplation brings us to those mysteries
which may be called in a special way “mysteries of light.”
~John Paul II, October 16th 2002

Announce the assigned mystery:
>> BAPTISM
OF JESUS
Jesus is the “light
of the world” (Jn 8:12). The Baptism in the Jordan is
first of all a mystery -- a
significant moment -- of
light. Humbling Himself before
John the Baptist, Christ descends into the waters, the heavens open wide
and the voice of the Father declares Him the beloved Son, while the Holy
Spirit descends upon Him to invest him with the mission which He is to
carry out.
Fruit of the Mystery:
Openness to the Holy Spirit

It's Thursday...
And when Jesus was
baptized,...the heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove, and alighting on Him, and lo, a voice from
Heaven, saying "This is My beloved Son," with whom I am
well pleased." ~Matthew 3:16-17
