The Presentation

When the time came... they brought the child Jesus to Jerusalem to present Him to God at the temple,  according to the law of Moses. Simeon took Jesus into his arms and praised God.

Meditate:

Obedient to God, Mary and Joseph "gave" their Son to God. The old man, Simeon, and the old woman, Anna, had waited and prayed so long for this day.  On that day, God's promises were fulfilled.

Ask:

I ask you, God, for eyes of faith.  I ask You for the strengthening of my commitment to obey and completely surrender myself to You.  I ask for the renewal of my hope.  I ask that my waiting is rewarded with a heart filed with joy, as were Simeon's and Anna's.

Heed Mary's present-day message from Medjugorje:

"Dear children, today I am calling you to complete surrender to God. Everything you do and everything you possess give over to God so that He can take control of your life as the King of all that you possess. That way, through me, God can lead you into the depths of the spiritual life. . . ."~ MoM, July 25, 1988

Scripture Reading, Luke 2: 25-32:

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:

"Now, Master, you may let your servant go
in peace, according to your word,
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in sight of all the peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and glory for your people Israel."
