Processes or strategic projects developed in the zone. Currently African-Colombians inhabit this zone with their established cultural traditions. However, their daily needs have obliged them to abuse the natural resources. Today, the Natural National Park is promoting an ambitious project of environmental education that seeks to sensitize the native inhabitant groups so they will cooperate in the conservation of scarce resources and to protect the coral reefs. Recently, the growing tourism industry has also been generated negative effects on the environment making the need to educate all those related to this industry vitally important. In addition, the National Park monitors the fishing activities inside the area in order to implement conservation strategies aimed at achieving adequate management of the hydro-biological resources of the National Park. Also studies on how to conserve the endangered species such as the Hawksbill turtles, Caribbean queen conch, Jew Fish (Goliath Grouper) etc. are carried being out.
