PHOTO.1 Fauna: Within this area, no less than 52 species of coral, 125 species of protozoa and foraminifers and 45 sponge species, 197 species of mollusks, crabs, clams, oysters and octopuses, 170 crustaceans (including reef shrimps, lobsters and hermit crabs), 132 coelenterates species (among them medusas and false coral), 35 species of echinoderms (starfish, sprocket wheels, and sea cucumbers), and 215 species of fish have been identified. 91 species of marine birds have been identified including the magnificent frigate bird, the pelican and the gannet. PHOTO.2 Vegetation: The abundant flora include 113 identified species including algae plankton and the red mangrove. The mangrove swamps, coral reefs, and seagrass beds provide the ideal environment for marine life such as algae. This allows for the formation of some of the most productive and diverse wildlife and floral assemblies on the planet. These areas promote not only the growth of algae but also the nesting of birds and the breeding of many marine species. PHOTO.3
