Histories of the area
Antecedents The history of this area is related to the nearby islands and to the bay of Cartagena. Groups of Indians called the Karib were the inhabitants of all the islands in the Caribbean. However, they were eventually evicted from their land by Colonizers. Afterwards, in the 19th century, the islands were occupied by slaves and escaped slaves. In the 50's, the colonization of urban peoples started and it intensified during the 60's and 70's.
