Gambling Girlie rolls the dice from Vegas and hits double sixes in Picks

She won six of the early games, and then duplicated that effort with six victories in the late games. Add it all up, and D.J.'s 12-2 record, which included a number of bold predictions, has put her comfortably atop the standings in the 2008 Sunday Football Picks. Gambling Girlie delivered one of the best rounds of predictions in the 29-year history of the league, given that the favored teams won just seven games.

D.J.'s recently achieved status as a legal gambler is already paying big dividends. Her comfort level with the risky casino lifestyle was evident Sunday as she chose two of the worst teams in the NFL -- the horrible Raiders and the hapless 49ers. But both doormats pulled out shocking victories, making Deej look brilliant.

America's legendary gambler, Kenny Rogers, was amazed by D.J.'s daring strategy, and her spectacular 21-6 record that dominates everyone in the Picks after two weeks. The renowned singer visited her in Las Vegas this week after one of his shows. Kenny filed this exclusive report, which should be read to the tune of his famous song, The Gambler ...

She said, "Dude I've made a life, out of readin' players faces
And knowin' what their skills are, by the way they run the ball
So if you don't mind my sayin', you should've picked the Oakland Raiders
For a taste of your Pepsi, I'll give you some advice"

So I handed her my Picks sheet, and she saw I chose Chicago
Then she clubbed me on the head, and called me a big dope
And her phone got deathly quiet, and her face lost all expression
Said, "If you're gonna pick the games, boy, you gotta learn to pick them right"

You got to know when to pick 'em, know when to kick 'em
Know when to take the Bucs, and know it's the sun
You never count your touchdown, 'til your team hits the end zone
There'll be time enough for countin', when the game is done

Now each Picks member knows, that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' teams to throw away, and knowing teams to keep
'Cause every game's a winner, and every game's a loser
And the best that you can hope for is Peyton Manning throwing deep

And when she finished speakin', she turned back toward the big screen
Flipped on the sports highlights, and faded off to sleep
And somewhere in the standings, gambling D.J. she rose quickly
And in her special words I found a tip that I could keep

You got to know when to pick 'em, know when to kick 'em
Know when to choose Brett Favre, and know it's the grass
You never count your winners, 'til the Chargers keep from chokin'
There'll be time enough for countin', after Denver's winning pass

(Editor's note: In exchange for the use of Kenny Rogers' trademarked tune, Picks Central would like to announce his upcoming shows in this area. Kenny will give a live performance at 8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. He also will sing at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at The Rosebud Theatre in Effingham, Illinois.)
