Do not disturb nesting birds by going too near the nest
or stay too long near the nesting site. If there are eggs in the nest, do not touch
or remove the eggs. Do no cut or remove foliage near the nest as this would expose
the nest to predators. Do not throw anything at birds to flush them out for a better
view.
Do not litter or throw away anything that you bring
along with you when birdwatching. All unwanted materials should be discarded at
proper disposable sites. Better still, take it home with you and dispose it with
your household rubbish.
Do not uproot plants and other vegetation.
Refrain from slashing the vegetation except when the trail is blocked and you may need to
cut a path. If it is necessary to cut a trail, cut only what is necessary and do
not cut everything in sight.
If you are birdwatching alone, make sure that you know
the area reasonably well. Do not go into an area where you have no knowledge of the
trails and terrains all by yourself. Always have one or more persons with you when
you go into unfamiliar areas.
If you are in a group, do not go ahead of the group
leader unless requested to do so and at the same time do not lag behind. Do not make
loud noise or sudden moves as this may frighten the birds away. Always talk softly
and never shout when you come across something new, unusual or exciting.
In search of birds in the field, you will be
experiencing the joy and fun of birdwatching.
Happy birding!
