Makzin Taylor

A monax that was raised by Zane's grandfather (on his father's side). He serves the Laurel Guide Hall only as Zane's protector, refusing any titles. He weilds a bone-bladed scythe and wears armor of blackened, hardened wood, as is common among monax. Gideon often accompanies Zane where ever the human goes, as protector and advisor.

As a monax, he does have access to edaphic magics, but relies more on martial skill than not. He is slowly training Zane in magic.

Family: He has a daughter, Calla, whom he is training to be his replacement as the Cather family's protector. He sees Zane to be like his son, and is intensely protective of both Zane and Calla.
