Master Your Body The Body Bar Series is a twenty plus volume collection of fitness videos offering a variety of different workouts for all fitness ranges. The best way to describe these videos are fresh and innovative promoted in a professional atmosphere. The videos are broken down into four sections strength and conditioning, cardio and strength, sports training, and mind/body influenced. What I like about these videos are they are done by excellent instructors, they pack a lot of workout in 30 to 60 minutes, cover a variety of different types of fitness, and offer many innovative moves not found in many fitness videos. What keeps me coming back to these videos are you do not outgrown them, as you achieve a level, you can opt to do move advanced variations or go up to the next bar level. Control is one area these videos offer and form is stressed in all the videos, doing reps at a slower pace makes the workouts harder when you have to work at control and form which are very important aspects of strength training. In many of the videos you will pick up the pace, but I have never felt so out of control like I have in other videos that I am sacrificing form just to perform the move. Also some of these video incorporate some really tough moves to challenge your body and that is where I have seen the most gains in athletic performance in other areas of my life. ![]() Body Bar Boot Camp (step) Volume 11 instructor Andre Houle runtime 60 minutes for intermediate to advanced offers cardio, anaerobic, and resistance and part of the Cardio and Strength series. ![]() Below the Belt Volume 12 instructor Keli Roberts runtime 30 minutes for intermediate to advanced offers strength and definition and part of the Strength and Conditioning series. A very fun and effective tape for working the lower body. I just love those one legged squats and bar rotation lunges. This tape is also part of the express series workout videos. This tape you start out with a warm up doing squats, lunges, toes raises, body roll, and alternating swims. You do a variety of squats including half, side, and demi. Standing one leg toe taps, leg raises, leg lifts. You do a variety of lunges, includes forward, and side, and with a twist using the bar. Deadlifts, calf raises, pulsing calf raises, and then onto a coold down. Some areas of the tape you start out slow and pick up the pace a little and this tape will check out your balance but you can always use the bar to assist you like in the calf raises. ![]() Hard Core Abs and Back Volume 13 instructor Keli Roberts runtime 30 minutes for intermediate offers sculpt, define, and strengthen and part of the Strength and Conditioning series. This tape requires a mini-bar and is a tough tape my abs talked to me after the tape and not many tapes get my abs talking so if you want to feel a burn this tape can wake up new muscles you never knew you had. This is one of the few tapes that does not have a slight aerobic warm up so it works great if you have finished a tape and then moving onto this tape. It is a little hard to explain this tape, you lay on your back with your knees bent. You start out raising the mini bar over your head and doing a few bar raises. Next you do a bar raise over your head then you curl up, extend the bar out along with your feet at the same time and then lowering your feet and then lower yourself back down and repeat the move again. This tape offers a variety of roll up moves, including one where you roll up with you feet on the floor, you raise one foot up, then the other foot up, then place the first foot down, then place the second foot down and then roll back down to the floor back into the original position. There are variation to these where you twist and use the bar like rowing a boat. There is some belly work where you are lying on your belly and you roll forward and come up to a cobra position. Another position is raising up and extending the opposite hand and foot out then switching and extending the other hand and foot out. Then onto planks where you incorporate the bar into the exercise. You do some abs curls and then to a brief cool down. There were more exercises but a little to difficult to explain. A fresh ab work out that overs something different then the standard crunches and alternating crunches. ![]() Martial Arts Strength Training Volume 14 instructor Lisa Gaylord runtime 60 minutes for beginner to advanced offers precision, coordination, and skill and part of the Sport Training series. This workout requires two mini-bars and works muscles in a different fashion then I have seen in other martial arts tapes. (Future write up planned.) ![]() Ripple Volume 15 instructor Clare Dunphy runtime 60 minutes for the intermediate to advanced offers control, stamina, and strength and part of the Mind/Body series. Ripple is a very slow and controlled video where doing a move slowly is more difficult than doing it quickly because you have to control the move longer which makes it harder. Ripple is mostly a standing workout that incorporates a variety of lunges and squat with the aid of a body bar to challenge the upper body through smooth and precise control of the exercise. This tape works your core and challenges your balance and there are different ways to do the exercise depending on your fitness level. Many of the movements are very graceful as you move the bar through the air while reaching out away from your body. The floor work you do planks but you could substitute push up instead if planks are too difficult. ![]() Yoga Sculpt Volume 16 instructor Lashaun Dale runtime 60 minutes for beginner to advanced offers endurance, flexibility, strength and part of the Mind/Body series. Requires a mini-bar. ![]() Energy Action Circuit Volume 17 instructor Mindy Mylrea runtime 60 minutes offers energy, athletic, and effective and part of the Cardio and Strength series. ![]() Body Bar Basics Volume 18 instructor Sherry Catlin runtime 30 minutes for the beginner offers learning basic body bar skills for proper utilization of the body bar and part of the Strength and Conditioning series. This video works with a variety of body bars such as the classic, light, and heavy and a good foundation for learning how to properly use your body bar. Basic training teaches you the fundamentals of proper form while using the body bar. You go through a variety of moves mostly done slow which works the muscles harder then doing your muscle work fast. Also be learning how to do the exercise in a slow and controlled fashion you are actually challenging the muscles harder because it is harder to hold a contraction then to pump a rep out like in double time. If you are not a beginner, there still is a good use for this video. Whenever I get a heavier bar, I do this tape and keep doing this tape until I can get proper form achieved with the heavier weight. Then I incorporate the weight into the other body bar videos. In the lighter bars you go in three pound increments but once you hit eighteen pounds the next jump is twenty four pounds and then the bars go up in six pound increments. |
