Management has been telling associates for months that this is SIA's last chance, that this model is do or die for our company.   However they still do not care what we have to say.  It is their way or no way.  While management claims to hear or want to hear what we have to say they are just words.  All any associate has to do is to look around and see what is happening.  Are things running the way they should in your area.  What is management doing to correct the problems.  In most areas management falls back on a familiar theme, this is a new model and we are only a few weeks into production.

While this may be our last chance, (according to management), our counter parts in Japan who are represented by their union (JAW) have recently received, the first of 2 yearly bonuses, the current bonus was equal to 6 months pay plus $500.  How can they be doing any better than us.  Our raise this year was lost with the changes in prescription drug changes and other changes implemented by management that cost us.

While we the associates continue to make concessions without a VOICE management is reaping huge bonuses because they are saving the company money, money they are taking away from us.  After all, managements, bonuses are based on their ability to meet their targets and by saving money.  Both of which fall on our shoulders.  By increasing our line speeds and by placing more of a work load on fewer of us, they are able to meet and/or surpass their targets.

Now is the time to UNITE and BARGAIN for a LEGAL and BINDING CONTRACT.  Only by uniting and forming our own union can we truly have a VOICE in our future and the decisions that affect us and our families.

What can a Contract do for us?

A contract will give us a VOICE in what happens to us.  A contract will allow us to have a say in what happens at SIA.  A contract will allow us all to be treated equally and fairly.  A contract will allow us to negotiate better benefits.  A contract will allow us to negotiate better raises.  With a contract we could have a fair grievance policy, not a policy that benefits only management.  With a contract we could have a fair absenteeism policy.  With a contract we could negotiate for a company sponsored retirement.  With a contract we could negotiate for sick days.  With a contract we could negotiate for additional holidays.  With a contract we could have the respect from management we as associates deserve for our years of service.

Now is the time for us to UNITE and form our UNION.  We deserve to be treated with respect, we deserve to be properly rewarded for our years of service.  We deserve a COLA and a raise that at least meets inflation.  Do you realize that the Big 3's $3000 signing bonus equals $1.44 on the hour for a 2080 hour year.

Management would have us believe that if we form a UNION that we would lose benefits, pay and many other things.  Management would have us believe that outsiders will come in and tell us what we will do.  We will elect our fellow associates to represent us and to negotiate us a fair contract.

Plan to attend and bring a friend to give your ideas on how we can build a strong UNION.  Help to build a real Team that will work for true TEAMWORK!!!
