PENSION

DO YOU KNOW

SIA associates had a pension plan in the beginning.  However over the years SIA has decided that we the associates do not need a pension to help secure our future.  All associates who hired in when a pension was a benefit lost a major part of our wage and benefit plan.  Of course SIA does not see it that way.  While SIA has forgotten that we used to have a pension we have not, nor have we forgotten that all associates have lost thousands of dollars, all associates even those of us who hired in after it was taken away. 

SIA has said that we will not receive a pension plan.  After years of investigation SIA says that what we have is better than a pension plan.  How can having less money at our retirement be better.  A pension plan is fully funded and guaranteed.  Our 401k plan is fully dependant on the economy and the stock market.  Everyone knows what this has done to our estimated retirement analyze that we were given a few years ago.  The money we have lost we will never recoup.  However if we would have had a company funded pension that money would have been safe.

SIA will have us believe that a Pension is the worst thing that we could possibly have.  Ask those friends and family members that have retired with a pension, where they would be if they did not have a Pension.  401k was designed as a supplement to your Pension, because of the dangerous nature and instability of the stock market, most people do not wish to bet their future on what might happen.  All we have to do is look at the estimate that SIA gave us a few years ago on what our 401k would provide us at retirement.  It is easy to see that their predictions have not come true and even easier to see that the future is too unsure to risk our security based solely on what SIA has to say without finding out all of the facts.

WE MUST!!

1.  TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH ALL ASSOCIATES!!

2.  ENCOURAGE ALL ASSOCIATES TO DISCUSS THE ISSUES WITH EACH OTHER!!

3.  UNITE AND ORGANIZE TO FORM OUR UNION SO WE CAN HAVE A LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT!!

4. DO OUR JOBS

WE MUST NOT!!

1.  WE MUST NOT HARASS THOSE WHO'S OPINION'S DIFFER!!

2.  WE MUST NOT DO ANYTHING THAT WILL JEOPARDIZE OR JOBS!!

3.  WE MUST NOT DO ANYTHING THAT WILL JEOPARDIZE THE FUTURE OF SIA!!

4.  WE MUST NOT LOSE FOCUS ON OUR EFFORTS TO ORGANIZE!!
