January  February  March  April  May  June  July  August  September  October  November  December

Coming up in September:

Monday 1st September - Open Night

Spotlight reconvenes after the short Summer recess.  Bring instruments, friends and do your own thing under the spotlight.

Entry £1  Doors Open 8pm.

Monday 8th September - Joseph Porter & Jessi Eastfield

A welcome return to Joseph, the singing drummer of Blyth Power who last played Spotlight last August.  His appearance at the Xmas Party was prevented by a road accident so hopefully, we'll more than make up for that tonight.  More tea-drinking and Airfix kit making than you'll see anywhere else on a Monday night.  But don't let that put you off.  Joseph is at the forefront of modern folk music.  With self-penned songs about the perils of too much drinking, military blunders, halcyonic ballads about times past and a dig or two at politicians and the Royal Family, Joseph's songwriting is both witty and very listenable.  Support is from Jessi, the frontman of railpunk band Eastfield.

Monday 22nd September - Ant B.

The MC of Spotlight performs some of his greatest hits.

Monday 29th September - Phil Jeays

The modern day Jaques Brel.  A rare visit to Oxford by the man decribed by Tom Robinson as "the finest songwriter I've heard in 10 years."  On his first appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe he won a Spirit of the Fringe Award.  How can I describe his show? It's not pop, but it's very accessible; it's not songs from the shows, but you'll go away humming the tunes; it's not cabaret, but it gets you tapping your feet, laughing your head off, and drowning your sorrows." -William Sutton.            This is a gig not to be missed.
