The Wheatsheaf, 129 High Street, Oxford (down the alleyway next to Starbucks). Click here for a map.
When is it?
Every Monday (except Bank Holidays)
What time?
Doors open at 8pm.
What goes on?
Local, national and international artists perform in short (10-15 minutes) slots. Frequent special guests at least once a month who play extended sets
Can anyone play at Spotlight?
Yes, singers, guitarists, keyboardists, poets, whole bands, whatever. Whether you're new to the scene or an old hand, you're always welcome. Just turn up and book a slot. It's best to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
How much does it cost?
£1 for performers who have signed up to play. Others get in for £1 on open nights and £3.50 on guest nights.
What equipment is there?
High quality (QSC amps) in-house PA system, 16 channel desk, 3 or more high quality microphones as required, various leads for guitars etc. Three monitor mixes. And me as the sound engineer!
Can my band play?
Yes, but we try not to do full on electric gigs due to time constraints although we frequently lay host to keyboards and electric guitars. If you can strip it back and calm it down then you're welcome to play as a band, but let us know in advance as time for setting up on the night is very short.
Why should I come to Spotlight?
We have the best performers, the best guest artists, a cosy, friendly candlelit venue, real ales on the bar. Made up your mind yet?
