Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 C shortening
¾ C brown sugar
½ C sugar
1 t salt
1 t baking soda
1 t vanilla
2 eggs
2¼ C flour
chocolate chips to preference

Preheat your oven to 350º. Mix the ingredients in the listed order. Pinch or spoon out the dough and arrange on the cookie sheet, and bake for 7 minutes. Bear in mind that cold cookie sheets can extend the required baking time, so the first batch for each cookie sheet being used may take longer than subsequent batches on the hot sheets. Remove the baked cookies to cooling racks. The cookies will be very soft and flexible, but will become more rigid upon cooling.

This recipe is about a century old, and had been hewn into its current form back in about 1983.
